Slovenian volunteer firefighters conduct training and community safety drills

Volunteer fire departments in Slovenia have completed a series of training exercises and community outreach programs focused on emergency preparedness and prevention.

In Dolga vas, members participated in regional drills, including a simulated kitchen fire at Camp Jezero Kočevsko. The department also held a technical training day focused on safe roof operations and hosted a community event featuring first aid demonstrations and traffic accident simulations. The event saw high local engagement, with residents collecting a significant number of fire extinguishers.

In Lovrenc na Pohorju, firefighters conducted unannounced and scheduled drills to test response capabilities. One exercise simulated a forestry accident involving a trapped worker and a missing person, utilizing a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera from the Ruše Firefighting Association to locate the individual. The drills highlighted the importance of specialized equipment, such as protective clothing suitable for both forest fires and technical interventions.
