Slovenská sporiteľňa announces planned service outage

Slovenská sporiteľňa has announced a planned service outage on Saturday, October 17, affecting various banking operations. The bank advises customers to withdraw sufficient cash in advance due to expected disruptions.

Significant limitations will occur between midnight and 1:45 AM on Saturday, impacting debit cards, internet payments, and mobile services such as Google Pay and Apple Pay. ATMs and deposit machines will also be unavailable during this window. From 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the George mobile app and Business24 services will be inaccessible, though credit card withdrawals at other banks' ATMs should remain functional.

Additional restrictions regarding standing orders, direct debits, and investment operations will persist throughout the day. Cash deposits via deposit machines will be unavailable from Friday, October 16, at 10:00 PM until Saturday, October 17, at 10:00 PM.

In the broader Slovak banking sector, major institutions include Tatra banka, known for its mobile application and diverse product range, and VÚB banka, which focuses on digital transformation and mortgage products. Slovenská sporiteľňa, part of the Erste Group, remains a dominant player with over 1.4 million clients.
