SMAN 1 Rembang students and teachers suspected of food poisoning

Approximately 107 students and eight teachers at SMAN 1 Rembang in Central Java reportedly experienced symptoms of food poisoning, including nausea, stomach aches, and diarrhea. The symptoms emerged on Friday morning, September 25, 2026, following the consumption of the 'Makan Bergizi Gratis' (MBG) program meals.

School Principal Endang Sri Lestari reported that while many were affected, most symptoms were manageable with medication, and only one student required rest in the school clinic. Most students and teachers have since returned to normal activities. The suspected menu from Thursday, September 24, included rice, corn fritters, bananas, and 'pentol bumbu Bali'.

The nutrition service provider, SPPG Magersari 2, visited the school to provide diarrhea medication and coconut water, stating they are prepared to take responsibility if serious medical issues arise. The Rembang Health Office also visited the school to investigate the incident.
