Smart announces Smart #2, a new two-seater electric city car

Smart, the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely Holdings, is returning to its urban micro-mobility roots with the upcoming Smart #2. This new two-seater electric vehicle is the spiritual successor to the legendary Fortwo model.

According to regulatory filings from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Smart #2 will measure approximately 2.75 meters in length and is built on the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform. The vehicle is expected to feature a 35.7 kWh LFP battery, providing an estimated range of up to 300 km (WLTP/NEDC) and supporting fast charging from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes.

The model will be powered by a 60 kW motor and is designed for high maneuverability in dense urban environments. Following recent years of expanding into larger SUV models, this release marks a strategic shift back to compact, specialized city cars. A global premiere is anticipated at the Paris Motor Show.
