Smart #2 interior design leaked via Chinese patent filings
Leaked patent documents from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have revealed detailed interior designs for the upcoming Smart #2, the successor to the Fortwo series.
The new two-seater features an S-shaped dashboard with a modern cockpit layout. It includes a digital instrument cluster and a large, floating touchscreen for infotainment, supplemented by a row of physical shortcut buttons. Design elements include turbine-style air vents reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz aesthetics and a large circular speaker integrated into the dashboard.
Technically, the Smart #2 is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, which handles design, and Geely, which provides the technical foundation via the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform. The vehicle is expected to be approximately 2,751–2,764 mm long, 1,669 mm wide, and 1,555 mm high, with a wheelbase of 1,875 mm. It is projected to have an electric motor producing 82 CV (60 kW) and a top speed of 140 km/h.
