Smart City Expo Miami to focus on urban intelligence and AI
The seventh edition of Smart City Expo Miami is scheduled for October 5 and 6 at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. The event, themed ‘Urban Intelligence for a Regenerative Future,’ aims to move the conversation beyond simple technology adoption toward using data, AI, and human creativity to improve urban life and restore environments.
The expo will host approximately 60 speakers from over 50 countries, covering tracks such as climate adaptation, neuro-urbanism, coastal regeneration, and the impact of major sporting events on urban legacy. The program focuses on real-world case studies to address how cities can use technology, finance, and design to build more resilient communities.
Parallel to these industry discussions, the role of AI in urban management is evolving from providing mere visibility to enabling coordinated action. While previous smart city investments focused on sensors and analytics to monitor congestion or water pressure, the next phase involves AI agents that can orchestrate tasks across different municipal departments—such as utilities, transportation, and public safety—to bridge the coordination gap under human oversight.
