Smart irrigation technology improves water monitoring and efficiency

New smart irrigation technology, such as the Bluebot Mini Water Meter, is designed to provide precision monitoring for landscape watering systems. While controllers like those from Rain Bird manage watering schedules, the Bluebot Mini acts as a monitor to confirm that water actually flows through each zone as intended. This technology aims to detect hidden leaks, clogged lines, or missed cycles by comparing real-time flow data against normal performance levels.

Maintaining irrigation efficiency requires identifying common signs of system failure, such as dry patches, oversaturated soil, or unusual sounds like hissing and gurgling. Frequent points of failure in these systems include cracked sprinkler heads, clogged nozzles, sticking valves, and worn seals. Early detection of these issues can prevent water waste and high utility costs.
