Smart reveals technical details for electric Smart #2 city car
Smart has revealed technical details for the Smart #2, an all-electric two-seater city car scheduled to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. The vehicle is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, specifically designed to maximize space within a footprint of less than three meters.
A primary focus of the new model is safety, featuring the Tridion Cell Evo. The body structure is composed of over 78% high-strength steel, capable of withstanding a roof load of more than four tonnes. Safety features include seven airbags and advanced seatbelt technologies, specifically Pyrotechnic Lap Pretension and Crash Locking Tongue, to protect lower limbs and the pelvis during collisions.
Technical specifications include a 35.8 kWh battery using CATL cells, offering a projected range of approximately 290 to 300 km (WLTP). The vehicle supports DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, the #2 aims to combine urban agility with high-level structural rigidity and comfort.
