SMART rescue team returns from Nepal disaster mission

The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) has returned to Malaysia following a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief mission in Nepal. The 11-member team arrived at RMAF Subang Air Base via a Royal Malaysian Air Force A400M aircraft, with all members confirmed to be in good health following medical screenings.

During the mission, the team deployed search and rescue equipment, including drones, which were handed over to Nepalese rescue teams to assist in operations following flash floods and landslides.

Despite the team's return, families of 55 missing Malaysians are calling for continued government action. Relatives are seeking detailed information regarding the specific areas searched, the methods used, and the results obtained. They are requesting a clear follow-up plan to coordinate with authorities in Nepal and China to ensure that all potential locations, particularly three priority areas identified from last known locations, are thoroughly investigated.
