Smart unveils Smart #2 electric two-seater at Paris Motor Show

Smart has officially unveiled the Smart #2 at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, marking a strategic return to its roots as a manufacturer of compact, two-seater urban vehicles. After a period of focusing on larger SUV models, the company—a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely—is reintroducing a successor to the iconic Fortwo.

The Smart #2 is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform and features a rear-wheel-drive setup with an 82 hp (60 kW) electric motor. Designed specifically for city environments, the vehicle measures approximately 2.75 meters in length and boasts a tight turning circle of 6.95 meters. It is equipped with a 35.8 kWh LFP battery, providing an estimated range of up to 290 km under the WLTP cycle. Fast charging capabilities allow the battery to reach 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes.

With an entry price starting below 20,000 euros, the model aims to provide an accessible electric option for urban commuters. Future variations are expected, including a Brabus performance version and a cabriolet. Deliveries are anticipated to begin in 2027.
