Smartphone revenue hits $109 billion in Q2 2026 despite shipment declines
Global smartphone revenue reached a record $109 billion in the second quarter of 2026, a 7% year-on-year increase, despite a decline in total unit shipments. This growth is driven by a 17% rise in the average selling price (ASP), which reached $400.
Rising component costs, particularly for DRAM and NAND memory, have prompted manufacturers to pass higher expenses to consumers. The market is shifting from a volume-driven model toward a value-driven strategy, with brands focusing on the premium segment to protect margins.
Apple dominated the market with a 49% revenue share, growing 22% year-on-year, fueled by strong demand for the iPhone 17 lineup. Samsung maintained a 16% revenue share, supported by Galaxy A-series and S26 sales. In contrast, Chinese brands faced challenges; Xiaomi saw revenue fall 17% due to a 26% decline in shipments, while OPPO and vivo also reported revenue drops of 10–11% despite increasing their ASPs.
