Smyths Toys recalls wooden cornhole board over asbestos risk
Smyths Toys has issued an urgent recall for its Wooden Cornhole Board with Bean Bags due to potential asbestos contamination. The Office for Product Safety & Standards confirmed the recall, noting that the toy fails to meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
The health risk stems from the sand-like material inside the bean bags, which testing suggests may contain small quantities of asbestos. Because asbestos is a banned substance that poses health risks even at low exposure levels, authorities recommend that owners stop using the product immediately.
The affected item is product number 233254, consisting of a poplar wood board and six colorful toss bags in red, blue, and white stripes. Smyths Toys has withdrawn the product from sale and is requesting that customers return it for a full refund.
