SN HLM launches new social housing phase in Bambilor
The Société nationale des habitations à loyer modéré (SN HLM) has launched the second phase of its HLM 1 program in Bambilor, alongside development work for Bambilor 2. This initiative aims to address Senegal’s housing deficit and improve access to affordable property for middle- and low-income households.
The new phase includes the construction of 157 additional housing units, with work assigned to three private national operators: Delta, TKM, and TKF. The project utilizes a rent-to-own model to facilitate gradual ownership. For example, Mariama-type villas are priced starting at 32 million FCFA (excluding taxes), while Diarra-type villas start at 37 million FCFA.
To support accessibility, SN HLM is working with the Islamic Development Bank to provide financing mechanisms compatible with local purchasing power. The program targets formal sector workers, informal economy participants, and the Senegalese diaspora. The broader development in Bambilor 2 covers 20 hectares and is expected to provide over 600 serviced plots, aligning with the ‘Senegal 2050’ national development vision.
