Sơn La Province Flood Claims Three Children

Heavy rain on August 1‑2 caused severe flooding in Gia Phù commune, Sơn La Province, Vietnam. The flood swept three children from the village of Chèo Bau. Search teams recovered two bodies on the evening of August 2, and later that night located the third victim. Local authorities mobilised about 125 personnel, including party officials, police, border guards and local volunteers, to conduct night‑long searches along the stream and surrounding villages. The storm also damaged agricultural land and triggered landslides that blocked roads in nearby areas.

The provincial People's Committee dispatched a direct‑action team to coordinate rescue and recovery, while the commune’s disaster‑prevention command kept residents informed of weather updates and safety measures.
