Snoop Dogg Biopic Set for August 2027 Release

Universal Pictures has scheduled the theatrical debut of the long‑awaited Snoop Dogg biopic for 6 August 2027. The film, titled “Snoop”, will star Jonathan Daviss – known for the series “Outer Banks” – as Calvin Broadus Jr., and is being directed by Craig Brewer, who rewrote the script initially penned by Joe Robert Cole.

The project is the first feature released under Death Row Pictures, the media arm Snoop Dogg launched after acquiring Death Row Records in 2022. It is being produced by Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment together with Snoop Dogg himself and Sara Ramaker, president of Death Row Pictures. The soundtrack will draw from Snoop’s extensive catalog, overseen by NBCUniversal music executive Mike Knobloch.

The biopic will chronicle the rapper’s rise from his Long Beach, California roots through his early collaborations with Dr. Dre and Tup Shakur, the release of his debut album *Doggystyle* in 1993, and his evolution into a global entertainment and business icon. Universal’s chairwoman Donna Langley described him as a “singular icon” of popular culture, underscoring the film’s aim to deliver a definitive portrait of his life and legacy.
