SNTP demands full unblocking of news portals in Venezuela

The National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) has issued an institutional demand for the total and unconditional unblocking of news portals in Venezuela. Although the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) announced the restoration of access to certain information portals six days ago, the SNTP warns that the measure has been partial and insufficient.

According to monitoring by the union, at least 31 platforms continue to face DNS blocks and access restrictions across all internet service providers in the country. The affected sites include national print and digital media, data verification initiatives, community radio, and international agencies. Specifically mentioned outlets still facing restrictions include El Nacional, Tal Cual, La Patilla, El Diario 2001, Radio Fe y Alegría, Armando.Info, Efecto Cocuyo, Es Paja, Cazadores de Fake News, EVTV, NTN24, and VPItv, as well as international publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Infobae.

The press guild emphasized that free access to information is a constitutional right and called upon Conatel and both government and private internet providers to immediately lift digital filters to protect journalistic work and the public's right to stay informed.
