Belém: Family demands investigation into death during Federal Police operation

Ana Suellen Carvalho de Araújo is publicly demanding the conclusion of an investigation into the death of her son, Marcello Victor Carvalho de Araújo, in Belém. Marcello, a 24-year-old administrative assistant for the Pará Civil Police, was killed on October 8, 2025, during a Federal Police operation known as 'Operação Eclesiastes.'

The operation targeted an organization suspected of international drug trafficking and money laundering. While the Federal Police stated that Marcello had reacted to the approach by assaulting an officer and attempting to seize a weapon, the family contests this version of events. A necropsy report indicated that Marcello was struck by two shots, one of which was from a rifle.

As the case approaches one year since the incident, the family continues to seek accountability and definitive answers regarding the actions of the agents involved.
