Brazil reports multiple cases of child abuse and fatalities
Multiple incidents of child abuse and neglect have been reported across various Brazilian regions.
In Patos, Paraíba, a 23-day-old infant died after sustaining at least 15 stab wounds to the abdomen. The child's parents were arrested after providing conflicting accounts, with authorities investigating whether the crime was committed by one parent or both.
In Sumaré, São Paulo, a 33-year-old woman was arrested for mistreating her three children, aged 10, 7, and 2. The investigation began after the eldest child fled to a grandmother's house to report being beaten with a nail-studded slipper. Police found the children in unsanitary conditions without food, with the youngest appearing malnourished.
In São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, two sisters, aged 2 and 6, died following a house fire that occurred while they were home alone. The mother faces charges of abandonment of an incapable person.
Additionally, in Manoel Urbano, Acre, authorities are still searching for a nine-month-old baby who disappeared 20 days ago. A relative has been detained as a suspect, and the mother was arrested for abandonment.
