Portugal postpones São João da Pesqueira festival amid forecasted thunderstorms

The municipal celebration of the Day of Foral in São João da Pesqueira was delayed after the local council warned of adverse weather conditions. The postponement aims to safeguard participants, officials and the public, with a new date to be announced later.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible hail for Sunday, 14 June, affecting the North and Centre regions and prompting a yellow alert for the interior of Alentejo. The forecasts call for strong, localized downpours, gusty winds up to 40 km/h in mountainous areas, and reduced visibility due to fog and mist along the western coast. Temperatures are expected to fall, especially on the western shoreline, while inland areas may still see highs of 30‑36 °C throughout the week.
