São José and Jaraguá do Sul launch major drainage and sewage upgrades

The municipality of São José began a drainage project in the Nossa Senhora do Rosário neighbourhood to address chronic flooding. The works include a new collection box and the installation of 42 metres of 80 cm‑diameter pipe and 47 metres of 40 cm‑diameter pipe, linking the system to the existing network on Avenida das Torres. The secretariat expects completion within 45 days, weather permitting.

In Jaraguá do Sul, work continues on the sewage network along Rua José Martins. The contract calls for deep trenches of 3‑4 metres, with three parallel sewers installed to expand coverage. The phase involves 33 km of collector pipes, a R$21 million investment and a two‑year timeline, aiming to raise the municipal sanitation coverage to over 92 percent and improve public health and property values.
