São Paulo advances new CAPS Infantojuvenil mental health center

Construction of São Paulo’s new CAPS Infantojuvenil (Center for Psychosocial Care for children and adolescents) has reached the 50 percent completion mark and entered the concrete phase. The facility, being built on Avenida Grécia near the Vila Prado UPA, will house roughly 26 rooms, including reception, therapy spaces, medical offices, group activity areas, a pharmacy, kitchen and administrative zones.

The center will serve about 250 children and adolescents each month, delivering 2,000‑2,500 procedures such as individual and family consultations, home visits, school outreach and therapeutic workshops. It operates as an open‑door service, staffed by a multidisciplinary team of pediatric psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and nurses, aiming to expand São Paulo’s psychosocial care network.
