São Paulo Bus and Car Crashes Kill Two, Injure Numerous Victims
A severe bus‑truck collision on the Castello Branco highway near Porangaba left the bus driver and a 54‑year‑old passenger dead, with 17 other passengers injured. Two of the seriously wounded were air‑lifted by a police helicopter to the University of São Paulo Hospital in Botucatu for intensive care.
In a separate incident in Ribeirão Pires, a woman waiting at a bus stop on Estrada de Sapopemba was struck by a car and thrown into a ditch. She was taken to a local urgent care unit for observation. The driver of the car was later assaulted by the victim’s nephew, sustaining injuries that required hospital treatment. A breath test showed the driver had not consumed alcohol.
