São Paulo government launches award for state teachers
The Government of São Paulo has launched the ‘Professor Nota 1.000’ award to recognize pedagogical excellence among state school teachers. During a ceremony at Sala São Paulo, Education Secretary Renato Feder presented medals to 1,000 selected educators.
Selection for the award was based on a rigorous methodology involving teacher attendance, professional performance evaluations, and student results from Saresp (the State School Performance Assessment System). These 1,000 awardees were chosen from an initial group of 25,000 teachers who received trophies through regional stages of the ‘Professor Nota 10’ program.
In addition to the awards, the State Secretariat of Education announced the payment of R$ 1 billion in bonuses to more than 188,000 teachers, marking the largest such payout in the last decade. The administration also announced the resumption of promotion exams for the teaching staff, which offers a 10.5% base salary increase, and a new civil service exam for 5,000 positions in the coming months.
