São Paulo launches free cultural program “Sorrisos Nos CEUs” in schools

The municipal Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of São Paulo, together with Instituto SYN and Shopping Cidade São Paulo, is offering the free cultural project “Sorrisos Nos CEUs”. The initiative brings a diverse programme of theatrical and performing‑arts activities – including sketches, clowns, mime, ventriloquism and character impersonations – to Unified Educational Centers in eight neighbourhoods selected for their low Human Development Index in education. The events run from 8 to 29 August 2026, each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and are fully accessible both physically and communicatively.

Organisers aim to reach more than 18 000 visitors, targeting children, youth and adults in vulnerable communities. “We are proud to support Sorriso nos CEUs since 2022, through cultural incentives via PROMAC and part of the IPTU from Shopping Cidade São Paulo,” said Grasiela Caldeira, social‑responsibility coordinator of Instituto SYN. The programme is offered at no cost and is intended to promote regular cultural consumption, citizenship and community development.
