Overview

In July 2026, Brazil’s Projeto Guri in Cravinhos and the Programa Recriar initiative showcased semester-end performances and graduations for children and teenagers, offering free music, theater and technical training supported by cultural and state ministries.

Following this, the municipal Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of São Paulo, in partnership with Instituto SYN and Shopping Cidade São Paulo, launched the “Sorrisos Nos CEUs” program. Running through August 2026, the initiative delivers theatrical and performing-arts activities—such as mime, ventriloquism, and character impersonations—to Unified Educational Centers in eight neighborhoods selected for their low Human Development Index in education. Grasiela Caldeira, social-responsibility coordinator of Instituto SYN, noted that the organization has supported the project since 2022 through cultural incentives via PROMAC and IPTU funds.

In late August, organizers announced new programming for the festival to continue through September 2026. This phase of the project is presented by the Ministry of Culture and realized through the Lei Rouanet, with sponsorship from entities including Colgate, Pinheiro Neto Advogados, Itaú, and UOL. The program aims to reach over 18,000 visitors, providing accessible artistic activities to children, youth, and adults in vulnerable communities.
