São Paulo Metro completes tunnel excavation for Line 2 and 4 connection

The São Paulo Metro has announced the completion of tunnel excavations for a new connection between the Line 2-Green Consolação station and the Line 4-Yellow Paulista station. This 81.75-meter tunnel, constructed using the NATM method, is designed to increase transfer capacity and improve passenger flow between these two major lines.

The project has reached 78% total execution. During the excavation process, which involved removing over 6,373 cubic meters of earth, authorities monitored seven nearby buildings and several metro stations using 480 monitoring instruments to ensure structural safety. Upcoming phases include waterproofing, electrical and hydraulic installations, and ventilation systems.

In related transit news, the concessionaire Motiva, which operates Lines 4-Yellow, 5-Lilac, 8-Diamond, and 9-Emerald, has opened 370 job vacancies in the rail sector. The recruitment drive includes roles such as maintenance technicians, service agents, and train operators. Notably, many of these positions are affirmative actions for women, and some roles do not require prior experience, offering technical training through partnerships with SENAI.
