São Paulo Metro delays monorail expansion tender results

The Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo has postponed the announcement of the bidding results for the technical studies and projects required to expand the Linha 17-Ouro monorail. The expansion aims to connect the metro to Congonhas Airport in southern São Paulo by adding four new stations: Panamby, Paraisópolis, Américo Maurano, and Vila Paulista.

The announcement, originally scheduled for Thursday, September 20, has been rescheduled for September 19. This current phase focuses on selecting a company to adapt the basic project and develop the executive project, rather than contracting the construction itself. If the timeline holds, construction of the new stations is estimated to begin in 2029, with completion expected by 2032.

Bids for the technical studies ranged from approximately R$ 49 million to R$ 91 million. The leading low bid was submitted by the Consórcio Projetista Linha 17-Monotrilho at R$ 48,985,070.73. Three other proposals were automatically disqualified due to missing mandatory documentation.
