São Paulo Military Police deny pursuit of Fernando Haddad's driver

The Military Police of São Paulo has used WhatsApp messages and officer testimonies to argue that no pursuit occurred involving the driver of Fernando Haddad, a candidate for the government of São Paulo. An investigation concluded that the meeting of two police vehicles near the driver's car was a planned rendezvous to respond to a potential robbery or theft at a condominium near the Pullman Hotel.

According to the investigation, Sergeant Elder coordinated with Sergeant Jesus to meet on Joinville Street to await tactical reinforcement. WhatsApp logs from 10:16 PM and 10:25 PM show the use of standard radio codes, such as ‘QTI’ for movement and ‘QSO’ for direct communication. The documents state that one vehicle parked near the driver's car at 10:25 PM, while the candidate's vehicle had already departed the area around 10:26 PM.

The police clarified that while a flashlight was briefly directed at a Ford Fusion belonging to Haddad for two seconds at 9:45 PM, this was a separate incident from the later encounter. The Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) has since archived the procedure regarding the alleged irregular approach, citing a lack of evidence of electoral misconduct.
