São Paulo newborn found dead in garbage truck

A newborn was found dead inside a plastic bag within a garbage truck on Monday morning in the Brasilândia neighborhood, located in the north zone of São Paulo.

A sanitation worker discovered the body during service. The infant was still attached to the umbilical cord and placenta. The Fire Department was called to the scene around 9:05 a.m. and confirmed the death upon arrival.

Authorities have cordoned off the area for forensic examination, which will be conducted alongside the Military Police. The garbage truck has been impounded as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the death. Loga, the concessionaire responsible for waste management in the Northwest region of São Paulo, stated that they notified authorities immediately after the discovery and are cooperating with the investigation.
