São Paulo railway workers approve state of strike
Railway workers on São Paulo’s Line 10-Turquoise have approved a state of strike following dissatisfaction with recent legislative proposals. The Sindpaulista union argues that Project of Law 777/26, which previously ended strikes on Lines 11, 12, and 13, contains loopholes that fail to fully guarantee job security, salary discussions, or specific workplace conditions.
While a full strike has not yet been scheduled, the approval of a state of strike means workers are prepared to halt operations if the state government does not reissue the proposal. A new demonstration is planned for August 18.
Meanwhile, Line 12-Safira has experienced operational disruptions due to power system failures. This line, which was recently privatized and temporarily returned to the management of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), has faced a series of recent issues, including a previous carriage fire and service interruptions during recent labor actions.
