São Paulo reports 36 confirmed measles cases in 2026
The São Paulo State Health Secretariat (SES-SP) has confirmed 36 cases of measles in the state for 2026. The majority of these cases, 32, are located in the capital city, with additional cases reported in Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo, and Guarulhos.
Of the total confirmed cases, 26 individuals either had no record of vaccination or an incomplete vaccination schedule. Health authorities have identified four transmission chains. One chain, involving two imported cases from March and April, was declared closed after 12 weeks without new occurrences. The remaining chains, identified between June and August, are currently under active monitoring by the State Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE-SP).
Health teams are conducting epidemiological investigations, monitoring patient contacts, and implementing blockade vaccination where necessary to stop the virus. The SES-SP emphasizes that the triple viral vaccine is available at all basic health units across the state's 645 municipalities.
