São Paulo reports over 58,000 dengue cases and 42 deaths

Health authorities in the state of São Paulo have confirmed 58,683 cases of dengue since the beginning of the year. The outbreak has resulted in 42 confirmed deaths, with an additional 30 deaths currently under investigation.

Of the confirmed cases, 57,402 are classified as standard dengue, 1,180 involve warning signs, and 101 are classified as severe dengue. Taubaté has been identified as the municipality with the highest number of deaths related to the disease.

The State Health Secretariat is monitoring the situation closely, particularly during the high-transmission period between October and May. In response to the El Niño phenomenon, the state has launched a health preparation and response plan to identify priority regions, strengthen surveillance, and support municipal healthcare networks. The government has also allocated over R$ 1.5 billion to 645 municipalities to strengthen primary care.
