São Paulo transit agencies approve emergency cooperation pact and explore fare integration

The State Agency for Delegated Public Transport Services (ARTESP) approved a new operational cooperation agreement, known as the PAESE plan, for emergencies affecting the metropolitan rail and metro system in São Paulo. The pact, formalized in Deliberation No. 385 and involving Metrô, CPTM, SPTrans and other operators, aims to ensure continuity of passenger service during failures, line interruptions, accidents or other disruptions.

Separately, a parliamentary amendment (Project Law 407) submitted for the 2027 São Paulo state budget seeks to create a fare‑integration scheme between Line 8‑Diamante (ViaMobilidade) and municipal bus services in the cities of Jandira, Osasco, Barueri, Itapevi and Carapicuíba. The proposal, presented by State Deputy Emídio de Souza (PT), cites a combined population of about 1.7 million and would allow a single ticket or similar system to replace double fares for commuters using both rail and bus modes.
