São Paulo transit expands service for Brazil‑Japan World Cup match

São Paulo’s public‑transport operators will increase service on Monday, 29 June, to accommodate fans travelling to watch Brazil face Japan in the 2026 World Cup. The Metro will run additional trains before the 14:00 kickoff, from 11:00 to 14:00, and again after the match from 16:00 onward, with reserve trains positioned for rapid deployment. Station staff and security personnel will be reinforced to guide passengers and manage crowd flow.

The commuter rail system CPTM will also operate a special peak‑hour schedule, shortening intervals between trains between 12:00 and 14:00 and deploying extra staff at stations. Announcements about the match will be broadcast on trains, with former captain Cafu providing commentary. The match itself is being held at NRG Stadium in Houston, United States, and the transport measures aim to ensure a smooth journey for Brazilian supporters travelling to and from the venue.
