São Paulo’s Poupatempo expands free scheduling and digital services

Poupatempo, São Paulo’s citizen‑service center, now requires free mandatory appointments for a wide range of in‑person services, including the National Identity Card, the autism identification card, paternity‑recognition requests, Sabesp bill settlements, driver’s licence transfers, school‑record checks and more. Appointments can be booked via the Poupatempo portal, its mobile app or WhatsApp, and the system is supported by about 900 self‑service kiosks located in transit stations, shopping centres and other public venues.

The same platform also hosts a digital portal offering more than 4,000 public services online. Users can instantly obtain a criminal‑background certificate, view or pay Sabesp invoices, check for CPF/CNPJ protests, and submit traffic‑violation defenses without visiting a physical office. The portal’s expansion aims to reduce queues, eliminate travel to service points and streamline everyday interactions between citizens and the state.
