Overview

In late July 2026, São Paulo’s Poupatempo service centers began requiring free mandatory appointments for a broad suite of in-person transactions, including National Identity Cards, autism identification cards, and driver’s license transfers. These appointments can be booked via the Poupatempo portal, a mobile app, or WhatsApp, supported by approximately 900 self-service kiosks in transit stations and shopping centers.

The digital portal provides more than 4,000 online services, such as instant criminal-background checks, Sabesp water-bill payments, and traffic-fine contests. The state's digital-first approach expanded further as six municipalities—Mauá, Caieiras, Cotia, Guarulhos, Arujá, and Jales—adopted the Doc+ Simples electronic protocol from OM30 to digitize administrative workflows and reduce paper use.

In August 2026, the initiative expanded into labor services through an integration with the federal Emprega Brasil platform. Poupatempo units now facilitate access to the National Employment System (Sine), allowing citizens to manage Digital Work Permits, apply for unemployment insurance, and use self-service stations to update resumes and search for job vacancies.
