São Paulo police arrest suspects in attempted femicide and child murder cases

In São Paulo, a series of violent crimes involving domestic disputes has resulted in multiple arrests. Mateus Santos da Conceição was apprehended in Jardim Shangrilá for an attempted femicide that occurred in April, when he used a vehicle to strike his ex-partner while she was riding a motorcycle in Capão Redondo.

In a separate and highly publicized incident on Father's Day, 24-year-old Breno de Souza Castro was arrested after killing his two daughters, aged 3 and 5, by asphyxiation. The children's bodies were discovered inside a vehicle in the Jardim Guanabara neighborhood. Castro reportedly surrendered to the police, confessing to the crime. The motive is believed to be related to jealousy following his separation from the children's mother in March. The mother reported receiving threats from Castro after posting a photo with friends on social media, shortly before he took the children under the pretext of a museum visit.
