Femicide case in São Vicente

Overview

On July 13, 2026, 37-year-old Paula Santos da Silva was fatally stabbed in São Vicente, São Paulo, by her former partner, Severino Alves Pereira. After leaving her workplace at Shopping Brisamar, the victim was ambushed by the assailant, who struck her in the neck and abdomen. Security footage captured the attacker stalking and following the victim. Despite her injuries, she attempted to reach her condominium before dying at the scene.

Following his arrest and confession, the São Vicente Judiciary accepted formal charges of qualified femicide against the suspect on July 21. The charges include aggravating factors such as the use of a weapon and an ambush. The prosecution has also cited domestic violence and the victim's status as a mother, while requesting compensation for her family.
