So You Are wins St Leger Stakes to qualify for Melbourne Cup

The Bjorn Baker-trained horse So You Are secured a victory in the St Leger Stakes (2600m) at Randwick, earning a spot in the Melbourne Cup. Despite being the $3.30 favourite, the race faced potential disruption when the horse was found to be missing a lead bag prior to parading. This required the horse to be unsaddled for a gear check and re-equipping.

During the preparation, trainer Bjorn Baker’s assistant, Glen Lobb, was knocked off his feet after being shoved by the horse, though he was reported to be unharmed. Jockey Tommy Berry rode So You Are to a three-quarter length victory over Tempesti, marking the horse's third consecutive win. Baker expressed confidence in the stayer’s ability to compete in the upcoming 3200m Melbourne Cup.
