Soacha advances mobility projects including aerial cable and cyclist bridge
The municipality of Soacha is advancing several major infrastructure projects to improve connectivity with Bogotá and enhance local mobility.
One initiative involves the development of a 3.82-kilometer aerial cable system designed to connect Ciudadela Sucre and Altos de Cazucá with the Terreros TransMilenio station. The project, which has been reviewed by the Ministry of Transport and the Government of Cundinamarca, aims to reduce travel times from approximately 40 minutes to between 14 and 16 minutes. The system is expected to feature three stations and could eventually operate up to 120 cabins, potentially moving 2,600 passengers per hour during peak times.
Additionally, the Ciclopuente Tibanica project is underway with an investment of approximately 22 billion pesos. This infrastructure will provide a dedicated connection for pedestrians and cyclists between Soacha and Bogotá, crossing the Tibanica stream to link Terreros Avenue with Alameda El Porvenir. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Regional Mobility Agency, the Institute of Roads and Constructions of Cundinamarca, the Urban Development Institute, and the Soacha government.
