SOCAN Polaris Song Prize Shortlist Announced for 2026

The second edition of the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize revealed its 2026 shortlist, naming five Canadian songs selected for artistic merit regardless of genre or commercial success. The shortlisted tracks are “Fabienk” by Angine de Poitrine, “Hurts Like Hell” by Charlotte Cornfield, “Hunger For Death” by PUP, “House on Fire” performed by Patrick Watson and Martha Wainwright, and “Lean” by Charlotte Day Wilson featuring Saya Gray. The $10,000 award will be split between the performers and credited Canadian songwriters.

The shortlist was chosen by a 205‑member Polaris jury from an initial long list of twenty songs. The winning song will be announced at the Polaris Prize ceremony and concert on 22 September 2026 at Toronto’s Massey Hall, where the prize continues its focus on artistic excellence in Canada’s vibrant music scene.
