Romania joins EU AI and chip projects; Moldova upgrades irrigation

Romania is set to participate in two major European initiatives regarding artificial intelligence and advanced semiconductor technologies. The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Investments and European Projects will coordinate efforts to integrate domestic companies and research institutes into continental value chains through Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI).

In Moldova, a project funded by a nearly 103 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with EU support, will modernize irrigation infrastructure. The initiative aims to benefit approximately 7,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Căușeni, Anenii Noi, and Ștefan Vodă districts. The project focuses on rehabilitating the Căușeni and Puhăcenii de Sus centralized irrigation systems to improve water access for farmers facing increasing droughts.
