Social Democrats and Left Party lead among Swedish Muslim voters

According to previously unpublished data from Novus, the Social Democrats (S) and the Left Party (V) hold significant support among Muslim voters in Sweden. Together, these two parties account for approximately 80.3 percent of respondents who identify Islam as their religion, with the Social Democrats receiving 61.6 percent and the Left Party receiving 18.7 percent.

In contrast, support for the governing Tidö parties is notably low among this demographic. The Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats, and the Liberals collectively receive only 3.8 percent of the vote. The Sweden Democrats (SD) stand out among the governing coalition with 10.4 percent support.

Political scientist Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson from the University of Gothenburg suggests that this left-wing dominance is primarily driven by class and socioeconomic factors rather than religion. It should be noted that the group of respondents identifying as Muslim constitutes 2.6 percent of the total sample, suggesting the results should be interpreted with caution.
