Poland housing market shows growth in construction and social housing

The Polish housing market is seeing activity across both private development and social housing sectors. According to GUS data for the first seven months of 2026, developers began construction on 81,200 units, a 1.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, building permits issued for over 113,000 apartments indicate a significant scale of planned projects, representing a 20 percent increase year-on-year.

In the social housing sector, the Social Housing Initiative (SIM) Małopolska has commenced construction of 30 apartments in Trzciana. This project, supported by Krajowy Zasób Nieruchomości, aims to provide affordable rental options for individuals who cannot afford to purchase property on the open market but can maintain regular rent payments. The building is expected to feature sustainable technologies, including heat pumps and photovoltaic installations, with completion estimated in approximately 18 months.

While the supply of available apartments remains high, developers continue to prepare new investments, signaling a period of relative stabilization in the market.
