Social initiatives launch food aid campaigns in Brazil
Various social assistance programs are mobilizing to combat food insecurity in Brazil as the holiday season approaches. In Ceará, the Inec, representing the NGO Ação da Cidadania, has launched the 33rd edition of the 'Natal Sem Fome' (Christmas Without Hunger) campaign. The initiative aims to collect 40 tons of food to support vulnerable populations. The launch event in Fortaleza includes community activities such as wellness services, leisure, and workshops to encourage public participation.
In São Gonçalo do Amarante, the municipal government has begun distributing 20,000 Christmas food baskets. This program targets low-income families registered in the CadÚnico system, specifically those with a per capita income of up to R$ 250.00. The distribution aims to ensure food security for families in high-vulnerability situations during the holiday period.
