Societe Generale joins Vodafone’s OXG fibre venture in Germany
Societe Generale has agreed to acquire a 50 percent stake in OXG Glasfaser Beteiligungs-GmbH (OXG) from Geodesia Holding. This transaction introduces a new funding partner to the German fibre joint venture, which is currently a 50:50 partnership between Vodafone and Altice.
OXG is executing a large-scale fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout in Germany, aiming to connect up to 7 million households. The investment program is projected to cost approximately €7 billion over roughly six years. The venture operates under an open-access wholesale model, allowing multiple telecommunications providers to utilize the infrastructure to offer broadband services.
The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Vodafone stated that the involvement of Societe Generale provides committed funding to support network expansion while maintaining strategic flexibility for the company.
