Sofia celebrates city day with LUNAR festival and cultural awards

Sofia is celebrating its city day with a diverse program of cultural events. The LUNAR video mapping festival returns from September 17 to 20, featuring an international competition of immersive video mapping artists. The festival will transform prominent locations, including “Largo” and the facades of the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers, the Presidency, and the Ministry of Education and Science, into visual art stages under the theme “City Pulse.”

In addition to the light shows, the Sofia Municipality will present its annual awards for outstanding achievements in culture at the National Art Gallery. Writer and dramatist Stefan Tsanev will receive the Special Award of Sofia for his exceptional contribution to national culture.

The city's musical celebrations also include the conclusion of the “Sofia” pop and rock song festival at the National Palace of Culture (NDK). The festival's gala concert saw a split first place between the duets of Kalki and Martina Tabakova, and Margarita Hranova with Ivan Krastev. The event also honored various musical legends and rising talents, celebrating both contemporary and historical contributions to Bulgarian music.
