Sofia Central Railway Station to suspend major track operations until 2027
Major rail operations at Sofia Central Railway Station will be significantly disrupted due to reconstruction work on the railway junction. From midnight on November 2, 2026, until midnight on March 18, 2027, movement on tracks 1 through 11 will be suspended.
Certain directions will continue to be serviced via specific tracks: tracks 2, 4, and 6 (dead-end) will serve the Sofia–Petrich line; track 6 (dead-end) will also serve Sofia–Bankya and Sofia–Dragoman; track 12 will serve Sofia–Plovdiv; and track 13 will serve Sofia–Mezdra.
Several specific trains, including routes to Burgas, Varna, and Kapikule, will continue to arrive and depart from Sofia Central without passenger transfers. For all other scheduled services, transfers will be organized to and from Poduyane Passenger and Iskar stations to allow routes to continue or conclude.
