Sofia Court sentences two men to life imprisonment for double murder

The Sofia City Court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the robbery and murder of an 85-year-old woman and her 60-year-old son in the Banisora district. The crime occurred on October 10, 2022, when the perpetrators entered the residence and inflicted multiple fatal injuries on the victims to steal belongings valued at approximately 1,086.50 BGN.

According to the prosecution, the defendants acted in complicity with pre-distributed roles. One man, identified as B. R., was the direct perpetrator of the robbery and murders, and was also convicted for subsequently setting fire to the apartment in an attempt to cover the crime. The second defendant, N. S., acted as an accomplice by monitoring the area, providing information, and assisting with the escape.

The investigation, initially launched as an inquiry into an arson incident, eventually revealed that the victims had died from intentional injuries. The court noted that the killing of the elderly woman was particularly brutal, as she remained conscious while the injuries were inflicted.
