Police operations in Sofia
Overview
Authorities in Sofia have conducted separate law enforcement operations targeting different criminal activities.
In one instance, police arrested two men, aged 39 and 48, for real estate fraud and document forgery. The suspects allegedly used a forged 1993 notarial deed to deceive a victim into paying a 5,000 euro deposit for land plots in the ‘Studentski Grad’ and ‘Malinova Dolina’ neighborhoods. Police seized documents, sketches, and a notary seal during searches of residences and a vehicle.
In a separate operation in the Hristo Botev neighborhood, police arrested two men, aged 35 and 52, for suspected vote buying ahead of a presidential runoff election. During searches, officials discovered lists containing names of individuals paired with specific monetary amounts, alongside brochures for a presidential candidate pair. The investigation involved checking 16 addresses and 38 individuals.
